I've recently been thinking about what prompts senior women to join our website, and what kinds of things keep some from taking the leap.

For sure, it is a leap. To start living with other unrelated people is not something to take lightly. It's not the usual way that people live.  One has a lot of thinking to do and a lot of planning to do because it is a very big change in lifestyle. 

Yet, there remains a LOT of interest in the concept. Women tell us that they think it's a brilliant idea, that they've talked to friends about doing something similar, that they can picture themselves living this way.

Then, they ask questions. Lots of questions. How does it work?  Does it work? What happens if it doesn't work? Will I still have some independence? How safe is it? 

Most of the questions relate to the risks. And there definitely are risks, just like making any other major change in our lives.

I think some women get fatigued thinking about the risks. And the fatigue leads to inaction. Then, inaction feels like the safest choice. 

However, joining SWLT and working through our process is entirely risk-free. There are no fees for using our service; there is no requirement to find homemates; there is no time-limit. 

If you have a keen interest in shared-living, get into action and join SWLT. You can spend an interesting and informative time reading the profiles of the other members, reading our topic-based supportive information and even chatting with other members.

The Board has identified a need for us to communicate with you more often and effectively. We want you to feel a strong sense of partnership with us because you have a stake in the decisions we make.

So, we are planning to start sending you an email 2 to 4 times a month. These will be relatively short, "newsy" style emails from various Directors. We will share updates, tips, polls and ask for your input on things we are doing or considering. You will be able to respond to and discuss the issues with all members and Directors in a specific chat group we will set up.

We may call these emails "Insiders News" or something like that. So, watch for them in your inbox.
